Joining in Reception

A large number of children in reception join us from Uplyme Pre-school, based in Uplyme village hall. We also take children from other nurseries.  The transition process begins officially in the Summer term before entry to Mrs Ethelston's, when the children join us on a Thursday morning for the Summer Term.  This helps them to familiarise themselves with the school environment and meet the older children. It also gives parents the opportunity to ask any questions and begin to get to know us.  There are open mornings and a transition meeting as part of the process.

Leaving us for Secondary School

We are a feeder school for Woodroffe Secondary and the majority of our children go there

We have a number of children who go on to Colyton Grammar School

Children have also gone to other local schools, such as Axe valley Community, Beaminster and Colfox.

Transition to Woodroffe begins with taster and curriculum days during Year 6, a visit from tutors and then moves on to a day to enable them to get the full experience.  If children have individual needs, the process may begin sooner and additional support will be put in place.

There is a great deal of communication between the schools so the staff and children can be fully prepared and make transition as smooth as possible for everyone.

If you need to contact the school please use the main email address, the phone will not always be monitored.
