Welcome to
Mrs Ethelston's C E Primary Academy
Mrs Ethelston's offers a high standard of education within a caring and Christian setting. It is important to us that our children leave us as well-rounded, reflective and confident individuals, who achieve their full potential. Children should enjoy school, feeling safe to take on new challenges and experience learning in a variety of ways.
Don't forget to register your space for Reception class for September 2025 - we still have spaces available in our wonderful village school.

When this happens, it's usually because the owner only shared it with a small group of people, changed who can see it, or it's been deleted.

A HUGE thank you to Reverend Nicky and the Open the Book Team, who helped the entire school to make Christingles today. Thank you also to the PTFA for organising the oranges and Tesco for donating them!

Year 2 were very lucky to have Jingle Bells played on the violin by two members of the class for them yesterday. We were able to listen to it twice and really enjoyed singing along the second time.

A huge thank you to PTFA, their helpers and Tesco for donating 200 oranges for our Christingles this morning. This is one of our favourite festive activities - keep an eye out for more pictures later!

We had a fabulous visit from B# this morning who performed some songs and taught us to beat box! The children loved the experience and we're keen to learn more about their sessions at The Hub.

Wrens' Mrs E's Freeze this half term was to raise money for charity. Yesterday, Wrens' worked incredibly hard to create activities and sweet treats to raise money for a very special charity, Children In Need and they raised a fantastic £75! Well done Wrens'! Miss Smith would like to say a huge thank you to everyone that was able to get involved and a special thanks to Wrens' parents who kindly donated the raffle prizes.

We are incredibly proud of the many children who have represented our school at the Lyme Regis Parade, Uplyme Memorial and Axminster Memorial services over the past few days. We appreciate the time and thought put into this. Year 6 also shared a wonderful worship on Friday about Remembrance Day, as well as visiting the memorial in Uplyme yesterday for 11am. Thank you again for taking the time to support this incredibly important cause.

Robins' Class enjoyed holding sparklers and discussing what they could see, hear and smell. They listened carefully and followed instructions sensibly.

Years 5 and 6 had a fantastic visit from author Rachel Brooker this afternoon, who read a fantastic excerpt from her book, Will Worthington and the Black Rainbow. The children loved the opening and were keen to ask lots of questions about the writing process.
The books are available from The Archway Bookshop and The Lyme Regis Bookshop if you should like to buy a copy!

Wrens class kicked off our #HelloYellow day on Friday with a fantastic worship, telling us all about mental health. Each class took part in different activities to raise awareness of such an important part of our lives. We also wore yellow, what a perfect colour for the occasion.

Years 5 and 6 had a wonderful day on Wednesday visiting Athelhampton House as part of their Elizabethan topic. They explored the stunning Tudor manor, learning all about Elizabethan life and were so lucky with the weather when investigating the gardens. Thank you so much to Athelhampton for having us and taking such good care of us, as well as the incredible parents who helped. The children were all given a surprise book written about the house! What a wonderful trip!
P.S. The house are holding a Tudor week in half term if you are looking for something do to!

On Tuesday, Year 1 and 2 had a very enjoyable (and very soggy) trip to Paignton Zoo. They were able to see lots of exciting animals throughout the day and had a talk about how lions hunt in their local habitat. The children were given a task to see if they could find any critically endangered animals during their visit. A huge thank you to those parents that were able to help us on the trip and those that offered their help - this is very much appreciated!

Robins have been looking at bears this half term, and as part of their fine motor skills followed a video tutorial on how to draw a panda. What great work!

It's been a fantastic day for our year 6's, who have been making their pies following their Tudor topic day. They made their pastry from scratch, prepared their vegetables and waited oh so patiently as they cooked before sampling them. We were particularly impressed by the Tudor Rose decoration on one of them! They were all delicious!

We shared a wonderful Harvest Festival this morning in church, led by our Ethos committee who read beautifully. We even shared some new songs that we learned as a school! Thank you so much for all of your incredible Harvest donations. We will be donating all of these to the Lyme Regis Foodbank, and using the money raised to buy even more to support this cause. Thank you all!
